Homesteaders Community Service Activities

Homesteaders,

You can use this list to help you complete your record book.  You will note which Community Service activities you personally participated in and how many hours you worked or volunteered.  I will simply list the activities.

2019-2020 4-H Year


All club members participate in the Palisade fruit fundraiser to earn money, which is then given back to the community in community service donations, gifts (tray favors for seniors), scholarships, and deeds.


October 2019
  • October 4, 2019 ~ The club made 75 tray favors (crafts) to donate to the seniors in Granby and Kremmling to decorate their rooms and doors.  
  • October 6-12, 2019 ~ The club baked cookies at home and took them to local businesses across the county who support the Middle Park 4-H program.  This was in celebration of National 4-H Week.

November 2019
  • November 8, 2019 ~ The club participated in Operation Christmas Child and prepared six boxes of gifts for 3 boys and 3 girls - one for each age group.  After the November 9th meeting, the club went to Family Dollar in Kremmling to purchase the gifts with money earned from the fruit frundraiser.  The club also voted to donate $75 to the Silver Spruce Apartments and the Mountain Family Center to be used for gifts for residents and needy families. (1 hour) 
  • November 15, 2019 ~ The club members baked (and purchased) cookies to donate toward Granby's Tree Lighting Ceremony.  Additionally, members served hot drinks and cookies for the people who attended the event (Foster, Flint, Sego, Ben, Shiloh, Taylay, Chisum, Lexi, and Kenna). (2 hours)

December 2018
  • December 7, 2019 ~ The club baked and purchased 300 cookies for Kremmling's Tree Lighting Ceremony. (1 hour of baking time)


2018-2019 4-H Year

  • October 7-13, 2018 ~ The club baked cookies at home and took them to local businesses across the county who support the Middle Park 4-H program.  This was in celebration of National 4-H Week.
  • October 12, 2018 ~ The club voted to donate $100 to both West Grand Wishes and Joyful Givers to purchase Christmas gifts for local children and families.  The club also donated $100 to as a general donation to Mountain Family Center to be used where needed.  The club also made 75 fall-themed hedgehog tray favors for Grand County senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.

    November 2018

    January 2019
    • January 11, 2019 ~ The club created 75 Valentine's Day tray favors for Grand County seniors living at the Silver Spruce Apartments, Kremmling Memorial Hospital, Cliffview Assisted Living Center, and the Granby Senior Housing. (1 hour)
    • January 11, 2019 ~ The club voted to donate $200 to the Hot Sulphur Springs Chamber of Commerce for their Easter Egg Hunt

    February 2019
    • February 22, 2019 ~ The club stuffed 6,000 plastic Easter eggs with candy for Hot Sulphur Springs' Easter Egg Hunt celebration.  (Time?)


    April 2019
    • April 12, 2019 ~ The club voted to purchase a fair book ad to support the Middle Park Fair & Rodeo ($45), as well as make a Friend donation in the amount of $100 for the fair.  The ad will thank the CSU Extension Office staff.
    • April 12, 2019 ~ The club voted to donate $400 in scholarship money to Sew It Seamz for their students to use toward tuition and sewing supplies.
    • April 20, 2019 ~  The club purchased 150 cookies to donate to Kremmling's Easter Egg Hunt.
    • April 26, 2019 ~ Kenna represented the club to help the council by leading a craft at the Children's Fair in Granby. (3 hours)


    May 2019
    • May 31, 2019 ~  Ben represented the club and council and did gardening preparation work in the flower beds at the fairgrounds.  (1.5 hours)


    June 2019
    • June 7, 2019 ~ The club voted to purchase 6 boxes of peaches, 2 boxes of pears, and 6 boxes of apples to donate to the food banks in Granby and Kremmling, the seniors in Granby and Kremmling, and to Cliffview Assisted Living Center.
    • June 7, 2019 ~ The club made 75 tray favors (crafts) to donate to the seniors in Granby and Kremmling to decorate their rooms and doors.  
    • June 28, 2019 ~  Some of the club members volunteered to plant flowers at the fairgrounds in the flower 


    July 2019

    • July 24, 2019 ~ Some of the club members volunteered to help clean-up and prepare the fairgrounds for the Middle Park Fair. (3 hours?)

      • March 2, 2018 ~ The club made 70 St. Patrick's Day-themed tray favors for Grand County senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.
      • March 2, 2018 ~ The club stuff plastic Easter eggs with candy for the Hot Sulphur Springs Chamber of Commerce, in addition to donating $125 toward their community Easter luncheon.
      • March 31, 2018 ~ The club purchased 150 cookies to donate to the Kremmling Chamber for the Easter Egg Hunt at Cliffview Assisted Living Center in Kremmling.  (1 hour)


      April 2018
      • April 13, 2018 ~ The club donated $40 for a fair book ad to thank the CSU Extension staff, as well as $100 to the Middle Park Fair.  (15 minutes)


      May 2018
      • May 18, 2018 ~ The club made 70 Independence Day tray favors ahead of time for Grand County senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.  (1 hour)


      June 2018
      • June 1, 2018 ~ The club made 70 seashell ladybug and crab tray favors for Grand County senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.  (1 hour)


      July 2018
      • July 1, 2018 ~ The club donated $400 to Sew It Seamz for sewing student scholarships.
      • July 25, 2018 ~ If you volunteered to help clean up the fairgrounds in preparation for fair, please make sure to note it as community service.  (3 hours)

      • September 16, 2016 ~ We made 70 fall-themed tray favors for the senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.  (1 hour)

      October 2016
      • October 2 - 8, 2016 ~ Our club families made homemade cookies and delivered them to local Grand County businesses and organizations who support the 4-H program.  Each family delivered the cookies after baking them.
      • October 12, 2016 ~ Our club donated a $400 scholarship to Sew It Seamz to be given to sewing students who need financial assistance for tuition and materials.

      November 2016
      • November 9, 2016 ~ Our club gave a $400 scholarship to Granby Rec to be given to sewing students who need financial assistance for tuition and materials.
      • November 11, 2016 ~ We made 70 tray favors for the senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.  (1 hour)
      • November 11, 2016 ~ The club donated money to three organizations who purchase Christmas gifts to be given to needy children in the county.  $150 was given to each of these organizations: West Grand Wishes, Joyful Givers, and the Hot Sulphur Springs/Parshall Fire Department.
      • November 11, 2016 ~ The club gave $100 to the Grand County Model Railroad Club to help them put on their free holiday model train display.
      • November 17, 2016 ~ The club purchased 150 homemade cookies, in addition to each family baking 3 dozen cookies and hot drink mixes for the town of Granby's tree lighting ceremony.  Various members volunteered to serve the refreshments that evening.
      • November 19, 2016 ~ The club donated their leftover homemade cookies to Hot Sulphur Springs for their tree lighting ceremony.  

      December 2016
      • December 3, 2016 ~ Our club purchased 150 homemade cookies, in addition to each family baking 2 dozen cookies for the Kremmling tree lighting ceremony.  We gave a $400 scholarship to Granby Rec to be given to sewing students who need financial assistance for tuition and materials.

      February 2017
      • February 10, 2017 ~ We made 70 Valentine's Day tray favors for the senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.  (1 hour)
      • February 25, 2017 ~ Our club voted to purchase ingredients to cook up a Cuban-themed meal and give it to the Kremmling Fire Protection District.  The volunteers were doing an all-day Saturday training, and we provided lunch.  Each family cooked and/or provided a portion of the meal and delivered it to the station.

      March 2017
      • March 10, 2017 ~ The club donated $550 to the Middle Park 4-H Council.  $150 is for a tree that will be planted in the new park on the east side of the fairgrounds.  The rest is for their general fund.  

      April 2017
      • April 7, 2017 ~ The club volunteered time and labor to clean up the grounds of Cliffivew Assisted Living Center and the Silver Spruce Apartments in preparation for the Kremmling Easter Egg Hunt.  (2 hours)
      • April 7, 2017 ~ The club gave $75 to the Hot Sulphur Springs Chamber to buy fruit to be served at their Easter Egg Hunt.
      • April 15, 2017 ~ The club purchased 150 homemade cookies and donated them to the Kremmling Chamber for their Easter Egg Hunt.
      • April 16, 2017 ~ The club donated $100 to the Middle Park Fair & Rodeo to support the Exhibit Hall event during fair.

      May 2017
      • May 12, 2017 ~ We made 70 spring tray favors for the senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.  (1 hour)
      • May 14, 2017 ~ The club gave $100 to Sew It Seamz to help them purchase gift items to be given to the participants of the Fashion Review event.

      June 2017
      • June 9, 2017 ~ We made 70 Independence Day tray favors for the senior citizens in Kremmling and Granby.  (1 hour)

      July 2017
      • July 14, 2017 ~ The club donated $100 to Mountain Family Center to be put towards their Backpack/School Supply program to help local children.  The club also voted to buy 3 extra boxes of peaches and donate them to Mountain Family Center, the Kremmling Seniors, and the Granby Seniors.

      • November 13, 2015 ~ We made fall-themed (squirrel) tray favors for the senior citizens in Kremmling - at Cliffview Assisted Living Center, Kremmling Memorial Hospital, and Blue Spruce Senior Apartments.  (1 hour)
      • November 19, 2015 ~ Club members provided and served cookies and hot drinks as refreshments for Granby's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. (2 hours)
      • November 21, 2016 ~ Club members meat, cheese, crackers and cookies for Hot Sulphur Springs' Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.  (1 hour)

      December 2015
      • December 5, 2015 ~ Club members baked and provided cookies for Kremmling's Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. (1 hour)
      • December 7, 2015 ~ (If you attended and participated...) 4-H Council and club members made Christmas tray favors for all Grand County seniors at the 4-H Council Meeting in Hot Sulphur Springs (2 hours).

      January 2016
      • January 8, 2016 ~ The club members voted to provide a $400 scholarship for Sew It Seamz to give to children for sewing lessons and sewing materials.  This money was raised by club members during the fruit fundraiser last year.

      February 2016
      • February 12, 2016 ~ We made Valentine's Day-themed tray favors for the seniors in Kremmling - at Cliffview Assisted Living Center, Kremmling Memorial Hospital, and Blue Spruce Senior Apartments.  (1 hour)

      March 2016
      • March 11, 2016 ~ Club members knitted baby hats to be donated to the Yampa Valley Medical Center. (1 hour)
      • March 25, 2016 ~ The club used their community service fund to purchase 150 cookies from Starla Rindt and donate them to the Kremmling Chamber of Commerce for the Easter Egg Hunt held at the Cliffview Assisted Living Center for the little kids.

      April 2016
      • April 15, 2016 ~ The club used their community service fund to spend $45 on a fair book ad (to thank the Extension Office staff), as well as donate $100 to be a sponsor of the Exhibit Day competitions for the Middle Park Fair (at the "Friend" level).

      May 2016
      • May 13, 2016 ~ The club members and parents did gardening work for the Cliffview Assisted Living Center.  We pulled weeds in the rock gardens surrounding the outside of the building. (1 hour).

      June 2016
      • June 3, 2016 ~ Some of the club members volunteered to help 4-H Council plant trees in the new community park at the fairgrounds.  (2 hours)

      July 2016
      • July 8, 2016 ~ We made turtle tray favors for the senior citizens of Kremmling - at Cliffview Assisted Living Center, Kremmling Memorial Hospital, and Blue Spruce Senior Apartments.  (1 hour)

      • November 14, 2014 ~ Holiday Bear Tray Favors for Kremmling Seniors at Cliffview Assisted Living Center, Kremmling Memorial Hospital, and the Silver Spruce Apartments
      • November 20, 2014 ~ Granby Tree Lighting Ceremony - Provided and served hot cocoa and homemade cookies to people who attended the lighting ceremony
        • Club bought 100 cookies from Starla's Kitchen, along with ingredients for homemade hot cocoa mix.  Club also purchased supplies.  
        • Liberty baked molasses cookies.
        • Liberty, Ben, Foster, Flint, Sego, Audrey and their mothers served.
      • November 20, 2014 ~ Family Dollar Gift Certificate for KMH Residents' Hygiene Supplies
        • The club purchased a $25 gift certificate and gave it to Nurse Theresa Vague to buy favorite hygiene products for the KMH elderly residents as a Christmas gift.
      • November 24, 2014~ 4-H Council Tray Favors for Grand County Seniors - in Kremmling and Granby

      December 2014
      • December 3, 2014 ~ Middle Park Meat Gift Certificates to Grand County Foster Families - The club purchased four $50 MPM gift certificates and gave them to Grand County Social Services to be given to two foster families and two at-risk families in the county.
      • December 6, 2014 ~ Kremmling's Tree Lighting Ceremony - Susan, Kenna, Nicole, Abbie, Marcy and Audrey baked Christmas cookies for this event.  The club also purchased 100 cookies from Starla's Kitchen to donate for the ceremony.
      • December 13, 2014 ~ Hot Sulphur Springs Tree Lighting Ceremony - The club purchased a meat and cheese tray and crackers for this ceremony.  Tish, Foster, Flint, Sego, and Jill baked and donated homemade cookies.

      January 2015
      • January 12, 2015 ~ Donation to Middle Park 4-H Council - The club agreed to give the council a $300 donation

        February 2015
        • February 13, 2015 ~ Valentine's Day Tray Favors - The club made Valentine's Day tray favors and gave them to the senior residents at Cliffview Assisted Living Center, Kremmling Memorial Hospital, and the Silver Spruce Senior Apartments.

        March 2015
        • March 13, 2015 ~ Donation to Middle Park Fair & Rodeo - The club voted to buy a $40 fairbook ad to support the fair and to thank the CSU Extension Office staff for all of their hard work and service to the 4-H'ers.

        April 2015
        • Community Service AND Junior Leadership Activity: April 29, 2015 ~ Junior Leaders: Leading a Cloverbud Night for Caitlyn - Audrey, Liberty and Ben prepared for and organized a cloverbud night for Caitlyn.  The Junior Leadership Committee chose to teach about garbage-can recycling.  The leaders taught the Cloverbuds how to cut avocados, how to prepare an avocado seed to sprout to grow into a house plant, and how to make guacamole.  Bailey and Molly showed up to help conduct the meeting.  It was a GREAT night!

        • May 1st and 8th, 2015 ~ Spring Tray Favors - The club made spring tray favors (decorated boxes filled with candy) and gave them to the senior residents at Cliffview Assisted Living Center, Kremmling Memorial Hospital, and the Silver Spruce Senior Apartments.
        • May 8, 2015 ~ Donation to New Park at Fairgrounds - The club voted to give $350 toward trees and other necessary elements for the new sitting areas that the Middle Park 4-H Council are building on the east side of the arenas.

        June 2015
        • June 13, 2015 ~ Hot Sulphur Days - Some club members helped represent the 4-H program by walking with other county 4-H members in the Hot Sulphur Days parade.
        • June 20, 2015 ~ Kremmling Days - Some club members helped represent the 4-H program by walking with other county 4-H members in the Kremmling Days parade.


        July 2015
        • July 4, 2015 ~ Granby Fourth of July Parade - Liberty, Ben, Shiloh, Taylah and their mothers helped represent the 4-H program by walking with other county 4-H members in the Granby parade.
        • July 21, 2015 ~ Build New Sitting Areas at Fairgrounds - Club members (who were available) showed up to help the 4-H Council begin building the new park/sitting areas on the east side of the arena.
        • July 22, 2015 ~ Fairground Clean-up for Fair - Club members (who were available) helped the 4-H Council clean up the fairgrounds and prepare the area for fair week.
