Recap of January 2017 Meeting

by Shelly Mathis

Meeting Date: January 13, 2017

Officer Round Robin

Many thanks and congratulations to the members who learned how to be officers in this meeting: Zachariah - President; Taylah- Secretary; Isaiah - Treasurer; and Jonathan - Pledge Leader.  You did a super job!

Old Business

  • Community Service Projects
    • Holiday Community Service
      • Thank you to everyone for helping out with the holiday community service activities!
      • Changes for next year: Shelly will make a reminder for the club to figure out how to ensure we have hot water for Granby’s refreshments (the water has been lukewarm for the past two years).  Tonya and Tish have ideas to discuss for next fall.
      • We received thank-you cards from Moffat Railroad Museum, Granby Rec, and Grand Angels for our donations.
    • Kremmling Fire Protection District
      • The club voted to provide a lunch to the Kremmling Fire Protection District for a Saturday recruit academy training on February 18th or 25th.
      • The entire club will not be needed to serve.
      • Families who are not attending to serve will figure out how to get their food to Kremmling (what is delivered early will be frozen… depending on what type of meal we serve).  More info to come!
      • Shelly will meet with Brady to select a date and ask what type of food is desired.  We will organize the menu via email and/or at the February meeting.
    • Tree Donation for Kremmling Town Square
      • Tonya shared that the Girls Scout troop is going to purchase a cottonless cottonwood tree from Neils Lunsford for $350.  They will plant it in Kremmling’s town square as a community service project.
      • Tonya is going to inquire as to the size of the tree in comparison for the cost, as well as to determine what kind of equipment would be needed to plant that large of a tree.
      • Shelly will contact the Town of Kremmling and Cold Springs to determine what size is required for the town and to compare prices at a nursery other than Lunsford.

New Business

  • Club T-Shirts
    • The club decided to design and order new T-shirts for the club.  Many have outgrown their old shirts, new members need shirts, and we want to give T-shirts to Phil and Susan of PeachFork Orchards.
    • Marcy will locate her T-shirt research from the past and forward to Rachel.
    • Rachel and Isaiah will research T-shirt options: colors, design, prices, and design businesses from which to order.  They will report their findings at the February meeting (at least, what information they have gathered by that time).
  • Community Service
    • February Tray Favors
      • Taylah will select our Valentine’s Day tray favors for our February meeting, and Shiloh will select our Easter/Spring tray favors for the April meeting.
      • Both girls will email the URL links to Marcy, so she can order them.
      • 75 are needed for each theme.
  • Fruit Fundraiser
    • Shelly will prepare this year’s fruit fundraiser paperwork to give to Tish and her kids by February.  No changes were suggested.
  • February’s Meeting Volunteers
    • Prayer - Foster
    • Devotion - Ethan
    • Refreshments - Chisum
