Minutes for December's Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H club was held on December 7th 2012 in the Sew it Seamz classroom.

President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 12:57 P.M.  Audrey Wheatley lead the pledges.  Roll call was on your
favorite planet; oddly most people chose Naboo.  Julie Aprill read the minutes, Liberty Mathis moved that we accept them, and Molly seconded it; the motion passed.  Liberty Mathis gave the Treasurer's report, Ben Mathis moved that we accept them, and Julie Aprill seconded it.

Old Business

We spent approximately $68 on Bret, which was slightly over our 50$ budget.  Shelly Mathis said that she could pay the $18.  Julie moved that the club pay the entire balance, and Audrey Wheatley seconded it; the motion passed.

New Business

The Stock Show is January 18th. Molly moved that the club pay for our tickets, Ben Mathis seconded it; motion passed.  

Fiber Fun Fest is February 16th, we discussed spending the night and going to a dairy farm the next day.  Next meeting is January 25th at 12:30.

Announcements

Caroling December 20th with Winners Circle.  
LDC is January 26th-29th, Registration is January 11th

Julie Aprill moved that we adjourn the meeting, Ben Mathis seconded it, motion pass and the meeting was adjourned 1:43 P.M.  


After the meeting we had our cookie exchange, ice cream party, and gift exchange.

December's Activities

Kremmling Preschool Craft Fair ~ Saturday, December 1st ~ 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
We will be selling our potholders and helping the 4-H Council booth wrap gifts.

Business Meeting ~ Friday, December 7th ~ 12:30 p.m.
December's club business meeting will be held on Friday, December 7th, at 12:30 p.m. in the Sew It Seamz classroom located in the Spur Building.

We will begin with our pizza party and ice cream, and will follow with a short business meeting, making our December tray favors for the seniors, and exchanging Christmas gifts and cookies.  

Remember to bring a gift for your gift-exchange member as well as 2 dozen cookies (per family) to exchange and take home.   Merry Christmas!

Minutes for November's Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H club was held on November 16th, 2012 at the Kremmling Extension Hall.  

Vice President Bailey Monnahan called the meeting to order at 1:48 p.m.  There were five members, three adults, and six guests in attendance.  Audrey Wheatley lead the pledges and roll call was on your favorite bird.  Julie Aprill read the minutes, Liberty Mathis moved that we accept the reading of the minutes, and Ben Mathis seconded it; the motion passed.  Liberty Mathis gave the Treasurer's Report, Ben Mathis moved that we accept it, and Audrey Wheatley seconded it; the motion passed.


Old Business
Tray favors.  
Bailey Monnahan, Liberty Mathis, and Ben Mathis gave a report on the shoe box ministry. 
We are sponsoring Helen at the hospital for Christmas. Ben Mathis moved that we also sponsor Bret this year; Julie Aprill seconded it; the motion passed.   We will be spending around $50 on him, as well.

New Business

We are going Christmas caroling with Winner’s Circle.  We will not be going door to door, but will simply be driving around in the back of a truck singing.  We will meet at 5:30 on December 20th at the Extension Hall.  We will be returning to the Extension Hall for Hot Cocoa, and Cinnamon rolls.  Please email Trudy Hoesli if you want to go along. tah15hoesli@hotmail.com

Council is doing a parents night out fundraiser.  They will need baby sitters.  It will be on December 13th at the Granby Town Hall from 5:30-9:00, and December 15th
at the Kremmling Extension Hall, at the same time.  The charge will be $5.00 per child, $20.00 per family.  The children will be K-5th grades.  We will be feeding them.

Julie Aprill moved that we give some of our pot holders to a silent auction; Ben Mathis seconded it; the motion passed.

Ben Mathis moved that we adjourn the meeting and Nolan Smith seconded it, the meeting was adjourned at 2:30 p.m.

Minutes for October's Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H club was held October 19th, 2012 in the Sew it Seamz classroom.

President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 1:08 P.M. Due to the absence of Audrey Wheatley, no one lead the pledges.  There were five members and three adults in attendance.  The secretary forgot to bring the minutes, so Ben Mathis moved that we start reading Minutes next month; Liberty Mathis seconded it.  Liberty Mathis gave the Treasurers Report for September; Bailey Monnahan moved to accept it, and Ben Mathis Seconded.

Old Business:
Tray Favors: The Mathis family will do them in November, in December the Aprills will do it, and Molly Scruggs will be in charge of the January tray favors.  For the Craft Show we will continue to make pot holders; we discussed making a different kind of pot holder and agreed to raise the prices on them this year.  We will be making more every-day ones, and sewing them at the November meeting.

New Business:
We reimbursed the Bohalls for the fabric they bought for the club.  Miss Carolyn asked us if we wanted a booth or if we would just help out at the Fall Fun Fest. We decided to help her wherever needed.   We also donated $32 for her to buy candy for it.  For this Christmas we decided to sponsor Helen at the hospital and also be looking for people at Cliffview and Mountain Family Center.  Our budget is $50 for anyone we choose to sponsor.  We will be drawing names at the next meeting for the gift exchange and bringing cookies to the December meeting.  This year we will be taking cookies to show the businesses that support us some gratitude; we will deliver them at the next meeting.  

Shoebox ministry is getting ready to send the boxes off. We will be doing eight boxes, four boys four girls.  The set price per box is $13. We will be meeting on November 7th to go to Steamboat to shop, and on the 8th we will pack them with the Christian school.


Julie Aprill moved that we donate $50 to the Awana program for general use; Ben Mathis seconded it  the motion passed.  Next meeting will be the 16th of November.  Ben Mathis moved that we adjourn, and Julie Aprill seconded it.

Shawn's Recap Email of October Meeting


Hi  All, here is the summary of today's meeting (held October 19, 2012).  Please feel free to add to this or make corrections.
1.  Upcoming Tray favors-
November-Mathis, December-Aprills, January-Molly.  We need approx 60 made

2.  We are going to make pot holders for the Craft show.  The Bohalls will buy fabric before November 16th,we will sew them after the meeting on that day. Plan on sewing 4 hours or so.  The club will provide drinks and pizza for supper, and we will utilize our ice-cream club competion party  for desert.

3.  We are having a booth at the fall fest--booth provided, we will man the booth.  We donated 32.00 dollars for candy.

4.  We are going to sponsor Helen Wordon @ Christmas. She likes music CD's, (bluegrass, symphony, classical) she could use a neck pillow, lotion, XXL sweat pants, and lap throw. She also likes cheetos. Does anyone have anything like this they could already donate?  Used music tapes would be fine.   Also, JoAnna is going to contact Cliffview to see if someone has a need there.  We will spend approx 50.00 each.

5.  We will make the tie blankets for the Mountain Family Center at future meetings.  Shyla will prepare and kids can tie during meeting.

6.  We are going to have a cookie/gift exchange at the Dec meeting.  We will draw names @ the November 16th meeting.

7.  Each family needs to bring 2 doz cookies to the November meeting.  Shyla will bring cards,  We are going to deliver them businesses who have supported our club.

8.  We will go to Steamboat to shop for the shoe box ministry November 7th. Marcy will drive, she will let us know what time.  Also, we can pack the boxes then, or do it @ the Christian School on the 8th @ 1:30.  Does anyone have shoe boxes?    We will sponsor 4 girls, 4 boys, and spend approx 13.00 per box. The shipping is around 7.00, so that will be about 20.00 per box.   Just for the record-  the Bohalls can bring lotion, soap, combs, gum & toothpaste to put in them.  Does anyone else have items?  Julie is going to get the list of items not to put in from the Christian School. 

9.  We donated 50.00 towards Awana's for needs of the program.

10.  Molly, can you get that letter to the Credit Union to my by next week?

If anyone has any baby hats by the time we go to Steamboat for shopping, we can drop them off at the hospital, too, that day.  When the time gets closer let me know if you would prefer to leave early afternoon or get home a little later. I have an eye appt at 2:45 that day that we can work around.

Minutes for September's Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H club was held on September 14, 2012 at the Kremmling Extension Office.

The president, Shyla Bohall, called the meeting to order at 2:54 P.M. and Audrey Wheatley lead the pledges.  Roll call was Aspen or Pine trees.  There were seven members and three adults in attendance.  Liberty Mathis moved that we table the minutes to the next meeting, and Julie Aprill Seconded it; the motion passed.  Liberty Mathis gave the Treasurer's report for The months of August and September.  Molly moved to except the Treasurer's report and Audrey Wheatley seconded it; the motion passed.

The Old Business was the Cloverbud day camp, which we decided to postpone until February.  

New Business was, Community service ideas.  We will continue doing tray favors. The Bohalls are doing November and the Aprills are doing December.   It was suggested this we volunteer to help at the library.

For fundraisers, we decided to participate in the preschool craft fair again this year, and will be making more potholders.

We discussed field trip ideas.  Suggestions were: visiting the Colorado Wildlife Experience, touring the mine in Craig, and going to a dairy farm.  Liberty Mathis suggested the Fiber Fun Fest in Larimer County.  Other ideas were Camping and Geocaching.

Achievement Night, 4-H open house, is to be held October 12th at six P.M.  at the Granby middle school.

November 9th-11th is Colorado Leadership Camp which is 6th through 9th grades.

August's Schedule

Exhibit Day ~ Friday, August 3rd
You did it!  Your projects are completed and now you get to show your hard work to a judge at Exhibit Day.  A schedule of interviews was emailed to everyone.  Please call Kristi at the Extension Office if you have any questions.  We are proud of each and every one of you!!!

4-H Council Concessions at the Fair ~  Friday, August 10th ~ 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Our club is signed up to work the 4-H Council concessions trailer.  Remember this counts as a council fundraiser that helps qualify you for trip assistance to the various camps and retreats for next year.  Come help out if you can!  Call Shyla if you have questions.

Announcement:  
There will be NO club business meeting during the month of August.  The next business meeting will be on Friday, September 14th, at 4 p.m. at the Kremmling Community Church.

Minutes for July's Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H club was held on July 27, 2011 at Kremmling Community Church. President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 1:07 pm and due to the absence of Audrey Wheatley, Ben Mathis led the pledges. The roll call was something fun you did this summer, because of the absence of Bailey Monnahan, Shyla took the roll. There were five members and two adults in attendance. Molly Scruggs read the minutes from the June meeting. Julie Aprill moved to accept the reading of the minutes and Ben Mathis seconded it, the motion passed. Liberty Mathis gave the treasure’s report for the months of May and June. Molly moved to accept the report and Julie seconded it.
 

The old business was gymkhanas and the Colverbud day camp. Mrs. Monnhan and Mrs. Mathis will be emailing out information about gymkhanas. We have gotten a $25 donation from City Market and we will see if Kum&Go will donate ice. It was decided that due to everyone’s schedules we might have a Cloverbud day camp in January or February. We also discussed the possibility of the club paying for it, and just counting it as community service. 

The new business was adult leader awards, outstanding member awards, and the friend of 4-H award. As a club we decided to nominate Kristi for the ABCD award, Mrs. Mathis for the outstanding leader award, and Kim Cameron for the supportive parent award. We also nominated Climax for the friend of 4-H award. The official voting for the awards will be held on September 14, 2012 and all members must be present. 

Molly Scruggs gave her demonstration on how to keep your camera steady and level. 

The announcements were six days till fair; help is needed at the concession trailer. Shyla said she would look up times for our club so that we could all work it together. Thursday August 30th is 4-H fun night and record book 9-1-1. Friday, September 7 livestock, horse, dog, treasurer, and secretary reports are due and your nominations for Outstanding Leader, Supportive Parents, Friend of 4-H and ABCD awards are due. Friday, September 14 the 4-H council will be holding a special meeting. There will be no August meeting due to the business of fair, so our next meeting will be on September 14, the time is to be announced. Our club will be taking a field trip to the Colorado Preforming Arts complex to see the play The Three Musketeers on October 10th. Achievement night is on October 12th.

Ben moved that we adjourn the meeting and Liberty seconded it. Motion passed, meeting adjourned at 1:48 pm.

Minutes for June's Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H Club was held on June 4, 2012, at the Kremmling Community Church. 

President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 4:10 p.m. The pledges were led by Audrey Wheatley. Roll call was answered by a U.S. state capital. There were 8 members, 2 parents, and 2 guests in attendance. The minutes were read by Bailey Monnahan. Molly Scruggs moved to accept the minutes, and Ben Mathis seconded the motion. The motion passed. The treasurer's report was read by Liberty Mathis. Julie Aprill moved to accept the treasurer's report. Anna Soltis seconded the motion, and the motion passed.  

Old Business: 
Gymkhana Concessions-do we need anything? Mrs. Monnahan and Mrs. Mathis gave us an update of what we have and what we need.

New Business:
Trip assistance for Bailey and Shyla-Bailey Monnahan and Shyla Bohall will receive $25 for the trip to Colorado State Conference. Shyla will also receive $50 for her CWF trip.

Club Business Meeting ~ June 4, 2012 ~ 4 p.m.
We will have our monthly business meeting on Monday, June 4th, at 4 p.m. in the Kremmling Community Church.  The time of the meeting will be announced via email before the meeting.  Members will give their demonstrations on their projects and make tray favors.

Announcement:
The club decided that there will be no field trips scheduled for the summer months since we are all so busy with our personal schedules and finishing up our projects.

Minutes for May's Meeting

President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 4:22 p.m. The pledges were led by Audrey Wheatley. Roll call was answered by a word that rhymes with pickle. There were 7 members, 2 parents, and no guests in attendance. The minutes were read by Bailey Monnahan. Anna Soltis moved to accept the minutes, and Julie Aprill seconded the motion. The motion passed. Liberty Mathis read the Treasurer's report. Julie Aprill moved to accept the Treasurer's report. Ben Mathis seconded the motion, and the motion passed. 

Old Business: 
Field Trips? We won't do any more field trips until summer is over. 
Cozens Ranch Museum-Friday May 18th at 2:00. What time will we leave? Is the club paying? We will meet at the library at 1:00. Bailey Monnahan moved to have the club pay for admission. Liberty Mathis seconded the motion. The motion passed. 

Cloverbud camp? Mrs. Mathis brought up that we should make it free for the cloverbuds to attend, in hopes that we get some kids this time. 

New Business: 
Tray Favors-Who wants to do June and July? Monnahans will do June and Bohalls will do July. 
Sewing Machines? Shyla Bohall asked if she and Mrs. Bohall could use the club's machines for their new business. The club agreed it would be OK. 

Joann's is going out of business. Do we want fabric if it is cheap? Shyla and Mrs. Bohall are going to Denver on Thursday. The club agreed to give them a $100 budget to spend on fabric.

Colorado Symphony Field Trip ~ Wednesday ~ May 9, 2012
Shelly will send out an email to those attending with all of the pertinent information for the trip.

Cozens Ranch Museum Field Trip ~ Friday ~ May 18, 2012 ~ 2 p.m.
Everyone who can attend please meet at the Kremmling Library at 1 p.m.  Those needing a ride can hop into the vehicles that have extra seats.  :)  We will then depart to go to the museum for our tour which begins at 2 p.m.  They have planned an activity for us following the tour.

The pledges were led by Audrey Wheatley. Roll call was answered by a weather term describing yourself. There were 8 members, 3 parents, and no guests in attendance. The minutes were led by Bailey Monnahan. Anna Soltis moved to accept the minutes. Audrey Wheatley seconded the motion. The motion passed. Liberty Mathis read the Treasurer's report. Ben Mathis moved to accept the Treasurer's report and Molly Scruggs seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Old Business: 
Field Trips? We are going to the Cozens Ranch Museum on Friday, May 18th at 2:00 

New Business: 
Horse Rescue Silent Auction? Anna Soltis moved to donate $100 to the Horse Rescue and 5 sets of 2 potholders (for a total of 10 potholders) to the Horse Rescue's silent auction. Ben Mathis seconded the motion and the motion passed.

Minutes for March's Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H Club was held on March 5, 2012, at the Kremmling Community Church. President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 3:25 p.m.
Pledges were led by Audrey Wheatley. Roll call was answered by your favorite sport. There were 6 members, 2 parents, and no guests in attendance. The minutes from the previous meeting were read by Bailey Monnahan. Molly Scruggs moved to accept the minutes, and Julie Aprill seconded the motion. The motion passed. In the absence of the Treasurer, Anna Soltis moved to dispense the reading of the Treasurers report. Molly Scruggs seconded the motion and the motion passed.
A short report on District Retreat was given by Bailey Monnahan, Shyla Bohall, Anna Soltis, Molly Scruggs, and Julie Aprill.
Old Business
Playing games at Cliffview---Friday April 13th or 20th. They play bingo at 1:00. It was decided that we would go on April 20th at 1:00.
Field Trips: No new field trip ideas were brought up.
Cloverbud Day Camp? When: April 27th Time: 2:30-5:30 Theme: Rainforest, Activities? We discussed who would be in charge of what, the theme of the camp, and activies to do.

March's Schedule

District Retreat~ Friday - Sunday, March 2nd - 4th

Games at Silver Spruce ~ Monday, March 5th ~ 12:45 p.m.
We will meet at the Silver Spruce senior apartments to play games with the seniors as a community service.

Business Meeting ~ Monday, March 5th ~ 3:15 p.m.
We will meet at the Kremmling Community Church to discuss club business and make tray favors. (The Bohall family volunteered to organize the March tray favors.)

If you so desire, bring along supplies to knit baby hats between the club meeting and the 4-H Council meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. in Hot Sulphur Springs (Community Building).

Horse Rescue Field Trip ~ Friday, March 30th ~ 1 p.m.
Meet out at the Horse Rescue around 1 p.m. for a 1-1/2 to 2 hour tour. Call Bailey if you need help finding the place.

Sewing Workshop ~ TBA (March or April)

Minutes for February's Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H Club was held at the Kremmling Community Church on Febuary 6, 2012.
President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 3:35. The pledges were led by Audrey Wheatley. Roll call was answered by your favorite animal. There were 8 members, 4 parents, and 3 guests in attendance. The minutes were read by Bailey Monnahan. Ben Mathis moved to accept the Secretary's report, and Molly Scruggs seconded the motion. The motion passed. Liberty Mathis gave the Treasurer's report. Molly Scruggs moved to accept the Treasurer's report. Ben Mathis seconded the motion, and the motion passed.
Bailey Monnahan gave a report on the Leadership Development Conference.
Old Business:
Playing games at Cliffview and/or Silver Spruce? Bailey Monnahan moved that we go to both places, and Anna Soltis seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Field Trips? Everyone be thinking of ideas related to you project and get them to the leaders ASAP. Cake decorating at the Merc, Horse Rescue tour, Photography and Scrapbooking workshops are some ideas.
New Business:
Cloverbud Day Camp? Be thinking of ideas for our next cloverbud day camp. Molly Scruggs moved that we do host a Cloverbud Camp. Julie Aprill seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Demonstration Meeting? Our demonstration meetings will be in June and July.

February's Schedule

Senior Tray Favors & Games ~ Thursday, February 2nd ~ 3 p.m.
The club will meet at the Silver Spruce Senior Housing to make January's tray favors with Marcy. Following their completion, the members are invited to join the seniors there in playing games.

Business Meeting ~ Monday, February 6th ~ 3:15 p.m.
We will meet at the Kremmling Community Church to discuss club business and make tray favors. (The Aprill family volunteered to organize the February tray favors.)

If you so desire, bring along supplies to knit baby hats between the club meeting and the 4-H Council meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. in Hot Sulphur Springs (Community Building).

Field Trip ~ Peter Pan Ballet ~ Friday, February 24th
Those who purchased tickets to attend the Peter Pan ballet are Marcy, Audrey, JoAnna, Julie, Molly, Brady, Shelly, Liberty, and Ben. Shelly will be notifying you of details about the trip in the coming weeks.

Minute's for January's Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H Club was held on January 6, 2012, at the Kremmling Community Church. President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 12:31 p.m.

The pledges were led by Audrey Wheatley. Roll call was answered by your favorite ice cream. There were 8 members, 4 parents, and no guests in attendance. The minutes were read by Bailey Monnahan. Ben Mathis moved to accept the minutes, and Anna Soltis seconded the motion. The motion passed. The Treasurers report was read by Liberty Mathis. Molly Scruggs moved to accept the treasurers report. Anna Soltis seconded the motion, and the motion passed.

Old Business
Elfie and Bret - Games at Cliffview? Date? We'll plan when to play games at Cliffview during the Febuary meeting.

The parents will decide when to make the January tray favors via e-mail.

Stock Show-January 17th. What time are we leaving? Lunch?

New Business:
Fair Ads-Anna Soltis moved to continue our fair ad that thanked the Extension Office, but discontinue the ad that thanked the Credit Union of the Rockies. Molly Scruggs seconded the motion, and the motion passed.

We had no new ideas for field trips.

Money to Council? Molly Scruggs moved to give council $100, and Bailey Monnahan seconded the motion. The motion passed.

Announcements:
LDC registration due on Wednesday the 11th District Retreat registration due on January 20th. If you are asking for trip assistance, you need to do it today or at the February council meeting.

Youth Fest-February 10th-12th for 9-13 year olds
4-H Fun Night-January 26th with movie and games!
Next Council Meeting-February 6th at 7 p.m. in Hot Sulphur Springs
Fiber Fun Fest-February 25th
