Minutes for July's Meeting

by Molly Scruggs, Reporter (on behalf of Secretary Bailey Monnahan, who was absent)

The monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H club was held on July 27, 2011 at Kremmling Community Church. President Shyla Bohall called the meeting to order at 1:07 pm and due to the absence of Audrey Wheatley, Ben Mathis led the pledges. The roll call was something fun you did this summer, because of the absence of Bailey Monnahan, Shyla took the roll. There were five members and two adults in attendance. Molly Scruggs read the minutes from the June meeting. Julie Aprill moved to accept the reading of the minutes and Ben Mathis seconded it, the motion passed. Liberty Mathis gave the treasure’s report for the months of May and June. Molly moved to accept the report and Julie seconded it.

The old business was gymkhanas and the Colverbud day camp. Mrs. Monnhan and Mrs. Mathis will be emailing out information about gymkhanas. We have gotten a $25 donation from City Market and we will see if Kum&Go will donate ice. It was decided that due to everyone’s schedules we might have a Cloverbud day camp in January or February. We also discussed the possibility of the club paying for it, and just counting it as community service.

The new business was adult leader awards, outstanding member awards, and the friend of 4-H award. As a club we decided to nominate Kristi for the ABCD award, Mrs. Mathis for the outstanding leader award, and Kim Cameron for the supportive parent award. We also nominated Climax for the friend of 4-H award. The official voting for the awards will be held on September 14, 2012 and all members must be present.

Molly Scruggs gave her demonstration on how to keep your camera steady and level.

The announcements were six days till fair; help is needed at the concession trailer. Shyla said she would look up times for our club so that we could all work it together. Thursday August 30th is 4-H fun night and record book 9-1-1. Friday, September 7 livestock, horse, dog, treasurer, and secretary reports are due and your nominations for Outstanding Leader, Supportive Parents, Friend of 4-H and ABCD awards are due. Friday, September 14 the 4-H council will be holding a special meeting. There will be no August meeting due to the business of fair, so our next meeting will be on September 14, the time is to be announced. Our club will be taking a field trip to the Colorado Preforming Arts complex to see the play The Three Musketeers on October 10th. Achievement night is on October 12th.

Ben moved that we adjourn the meeting and Liberty seconded it. Motion passed, meeting adjourned at 1:48 pm.
