Community Service Updates

Granby Tree Lighting Ceremony - November 20th

Thanks to Tish, Foster, Flint, Sego, Marcy, Audrey, Liberty and Ben for serving cookies at hot chocolate at this event.

Family Dollar Gift Certificate for Theresa Vague - November 20th


Shelly purchased a $25 gift certificate for Theresa at the Family Dollar and put it into a Christmas card.  She gave it to Susan to pass on to Theresa.

Gift Certificates for Foster Families - December 3rd

I purchased and delivered four Middle Park Meat gift certificates to Social Services to be given to the two families with foster children, as well as the two at-risk families.  I included Christmas blessings from our club and my number, if they would like to request home delivery.

Kremmling’s Tree Lighting Ceremony - December 6th

Thanks to Susan, Kenna, Nicole, Abbie, Marcy, and Audrey for baking cookies for this event.

Hot Sulphur Springs Tree Lighting Ceremony - December 13th

Thanks to Marcy for ordering a meat and cheese tray and buying crackers for this event.  Thanks to Tish and Jill for baking cookies.  Thanks to Jill who will deliver all of the goodies to HSS on Saturday.

Recap of November 14, 2014 Meeting

Homesteaders, we planned a lot at today’s meeting.

Thank you for your patience, generosity, and participation.  
Please review the family color-coded commitments, and let me know if I missed anything!

Old Business:

  • Community Service
    • The club will be providing various goodies for three Grand County communities and their Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremonies - Granby, Kremmling, and Hot Sulphur Springs.
      • Granby - Thursday, November 20th - 5-6:30 p.m.
        • Club will buy 100 Christmas sugar cookies from Starla’s Kitchen for $50.
        • The Linke-Krempin, Monnahan-Wheatley, and Mathis families will be serving cookies and hot chocolate for the event.
          • Mathis - 2 dozen cookies, homemade hot chocolate mix, and cookies from Starla, club donation jar
          • Monnahan-Wheatley - hot beverage cups and spoons
          • Linke-Krempins - large coffee pot for hot water, cords, table(?)

      • Kremmling - Saturday, December 6th - 4-6 p.m.
        • No servers are needed for this event.
        • Club will buy 100 Christmas sugar cookies from Starla’s Kitchen for $50.
        • Bakers of donated homemade cookies:
          • Nicole & Abbie = 4 dozen cookies
          • Marcy & Audrey = 2 dozen cookies
          • Susan & Kenna = 2 dozen cookies
        • Cookies need to be delivered to Kremmling Chamber between 3 and 3:30 p.m.  If you cannot make it to the Chamber at that time, please deliver your cookies to the Kremmling Library on Saturday before 3 p.m., and Susan will pick up the cookies and deliver them to the chamber.

      • Hot Sulphur Springs - Saturday, December 13th - 4-6:30 p.m.
        • No servers are needed for this event.
        • Club will order a meat and cheese and/or cheese and cracker tray for 30-40 people.
          • Marcy will research prices at Middle Park Meat and the Kremmling Mercantile and decide with Shelly on which one to buy.  They will order the tray.
          • Budget = less than $100
        • Bakers of donated homemade cookies:
          • Tish = 2 dozen cookies
          • Jill = 2 dozen cookies
          • Jill & Tish will coordinate getting Tish’s cookies to Jill for delivery.
        • Delivery to HSS on Dec. 13th - Jill will pick up the meat tray and Tish’s cookies and deliver all (along with her cookies) to HSS.  Please contact Tish for delivery location (531-5465).

    • Grand County Foster Families
      • The club will purchase four $50 gift certificates from Middle Park Meat to give to the two families with foster children and the two at-risk families.
      • Shelly & Ben will purchase the gift certificates and include a note that meat orders can be made over the phone and deliveries can be made to the east end of Grand County, if needed.  Shelly’s contact info will be included.
      • Shelly will contact Tonya to see where to send the gift certificates.

    • KMH Long-Term Residents
      • The club will give a $25 Family Dollar gift card to Theresa Vague of KMH to purchase personal hygiene products for the residents there.
      • Shelly & Ben will buy the gift card, make out a card, and give it to Susan who will pass it on to Theresa.

  • Club T-Shirts - ordered and soon to be finished!

  • Thank you, Audrey, for publishing the club’s thank-you letter to supporters in the 4-H Newsletter!

New Business:

  • Kremmling 4-H Open House on November 6th - the Mathis family attended to represent our club
  • Update Club Checking Account Signature Card
    • The club voted to update the signature card for club’s account by removing JoAnna Aprill, since she is no longer a club leader.  Shelly will contact the bank.
  • 4-H Day @ Stock Show - Friday, January 16th
    • The club voted to pay for half of all club member and leaders attending the Stock Show.
    • Please email Shelly by December 1st, if you want to purchase tickets.  
    • Payment is due on January 16th.
  • The December’s club meeting has been cancelled due to our busy council and personal schedules.  Enjoy the holiday season!

Middle Park 4-H Council Announcements

  • 4-H Council Meeting - Monday, Dec. 1st @ 7 p.m. in Hot Sulphur Springs (rides available)
  • 4-H Trip to the Stock Show - Friday, January 16th
  • 4-H Council Tree Festival Fundraiser - Friday, December 5th in Fraser, 4-8 p.m.
  • 4-H Sugar Chalet Workshop - Friday, December 12th @ 2-4 p.m.

Minutes for November 2014 Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Homesteaders 4-H club was held Friday, November 14, 2014.


President Liberty Mathis called the meeting to order at 1:40 p.m. Bailey Monnahan led the prayer. Liberty read a devotion from Philippians 4:6-7. Foster Krempin led the pledges. Audrey Wheatley took the roll call; members were to respond with their 4-H project(s). There were 10 members present, 1 guest, and 5 parents. Audrey read the minutes. Abbie Zick moved to accept the minutes. Foster seconded it; the motion passed. Ben Mathis read the Treasurer’s Report. We have $1,100 in our scholarship fund and $3,056.26 as our remaining balance. Bailey moved that we accept the treasurer’s report. Abbie seconded it; the motion passed.


Old Business:


Jill Wilkinson moved to do community service at the tree lightings in Granby and Hot Sulphur Springs. Bailey seconded it; the motion passed. The club will buy 100 cookies from Starla Rindt for $50 to take to Granby. The Mathis family will bring homemade hot chocolate and cookies. Tish Linke will provide coffee maker and hot water. Marcy Monnahan will buy cups and spoons.Those 3 families and anyone else who is available will serve cookies and hot chocolate in Granby on November 20th; setup will be at 4:30 p.m. by the Granby Dental.

For the Kremmling Christmas Tree Lighting, Abbie moved to buy another hundred cookies from Starla. Kenna Wall  seconded it; the motion passed. Abbie will bake 4 dozen cookies, Kenna will bake 2 dozen, and Audrey will bake 2 dozen also. Cookies need to be delivered to the Kremmling Chamber between 3 and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th.

  For Hot Sulphur Springs, Marcy will get prices for meat and cheese and/or cheese and cracker trays for 30-40 people. Foster and Jill will bake 2 dozen cookies each. Jill will deliver cookies and trays to Hot Sulphur Springs on Saturday, December 13th.

Marcy relayed information from Tonya French regarding foster kids and other needy families in the county. Discussion was held to figure out what we can do for those families. Jill moved to buy four $50 gift certificates from Middle Park Meat for the 4 families. Abbie seconded it; the motion passed.

   Shelly Cecil at Silver Spruce Apartments said that there are residents who could use help with light cleaning or other projects. The club will check on those opportunities after the holidays.

    Teresa Vague at the hospital buys toiletries for the residents out of her own pocket. Abbie moved to buy a $25 gift card from Family Dollar for Teresa. Jill seconded it; the motion passed.

   We ordered 31 t-shirts total; they will be ready that week.

New business:  


  The Mathis family attended the Kremmling 4-H open house on November 6 and gave a report. 

Abbie moved that we remove JoAnna Aprill from the signature card at the bank. Ben seconded it; the motion passed.


   4-H day at the stock show is Friday, January 16th. Jill moved for the club to pay for half of the admission price. Foster seconded it; the motion passed. Please notify Shelly Mathis in the next couple weeks if you will be going.

   The December club meeting has been canceled. Jill made the motion. Molly Scruggs seconded it; the motion passed. The next meeting will be January 9, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Kremmling Community Church. Molly will do the prayer, Abbie will say the devotion, and Kenna will bring refreshments.

  Ben moved to adjourn the meeting at 2:51 p.m. Abbie seconded it; the motion passed.

The Christmas Bear tray favors were put together after the meeting and delivered.
